Takes 1 hour
Now and again my husband Kevin enters the kitchen and bakes a masterpiece. I must share this recipe with you as they tasted amazing!
1kg store bought dough
½ cup melted butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp. ground cinnamon
For cream cheese topping:
1 cup milk
1.5 cups sugar
150g tub cream cheese
2 tbsp. butter
Spread dough over a floured surface. If you have a dough board/mat, then sprinkle flour over it. This reduces the mess. Shape the dough into a rectangle with the wider side in front of you. Brush half of the butter over the rectangle then sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over it, leaving a 2cm border all around. Drizzle over remaining butter. Roll dough up tightly and pinch the seam closed. Cut roll into 8 slices and pack on a greased baking. Leave to rise for 15 minutes.
Preheat oven to 180C. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and cooked.
Cream cheese topping: heat milk and sugar in a pot over medium heat until sugar has dissolved. Bring to boil and cook. Stir in cream cheese until combined. Remove from heat and stir in butter.
Drizzle cream cheese topping over cinnamon buns and serve with freshly brewed filter coffee.
